SELEX Galileo collects another Investors in People Gold Standard award

Luton, 3 November 2010 – SELEX Galileo’s Luton site has recently been awarded the respected Investors in People (IiP) Gold Standard award. The recognition follows on from the Silver award that SELEX Galileo’s site in Basildon received earlier this year and the Gold ranking obtained by the Company’s Edinburgh site last October, meaning that the Company’s three largest UK-based sites have now all secured the prestigious honour.

The Gold award is given only to those organisations which are able to demonstrate excellence in the way that they develop and support staff. The assessment consisted of an intensive series of interviews carried out with a random selection of employees. The interviews allowed the IiP assessor to gain an accurate picture of the Company’s policies, benefits and daily working practices. Commenting on those selected to take part, the IiP assessor praised the valuable input from all interviewees and found them open, critical but
constructive and genuinely interested in the process.

The IiP found a ‘sophisticated organisational structure in place’ at the Luton site, and praised several areas of ‘outstanding practice’ including the alignment of the Company’s values to the organisational culture and ethos and SELEX Galileo’s commitment to learning and
development.

Underpinning the award were the transnational people policies embraced by the Company, which have helped position SELEX Galileo to respond to the specific needs of those on the front line by encouraging innovation, technical excellence and close relationships with
customers.

It is an approach that has not just improved the solutions provided to Customers, but has also lead to the creation of a results-driven working environment described as friendly, sociable, challenging and rewarding.
