The UK Government views space as a key industrial sector and is supporting industry and academia to advance the UK’s global position as a leading provider of space-related technologies and services. In 2010, UK industry and government worked together to propose an ambitious twenty-year strategy to capture 10% of the estimated £40 billion global space market.

Through Telespazio VEGA UK, Finmeccanica offers a full spectrum of space technologies and services in the UK. As a leader in satellite systems and applications, we offer robust and reliable ground segment systems for satellite missions and provide expert consulting and engineering support. We provide downstream applications including geo-information via value-added, user-friendly platforms, as well as cost-effective fixed and mobile satellite communications. Selex ES also designs and manufactures optical payloads, solar arrays and radio frequency equipment for both civil and military applications.

Telespazio VEGA UK is active in many areas of development for Galileo, Europe’s global navigation satellite system, including operations engineering and project support, as well as developing the Assembly Integration and Verification Platform to ease the integration and test of the complex Galileo Mission Segment.

Finmeccanica is a key contributor to the UK Government’s initiative to strengthen its space industry. Telespazio VEGA UK was a founding partner in the International Space Innovation Centre at Harwell and is now actively involved in the current Catapult programme.
