SELEX Galileo raises £40,000 in support of Combined Services
Disabled Ski Team
7 October 2011 – SELEX Galileo organised a charity dinner
and auction which was held at Salters’ Hall, London on Thursday 6
October 2011 in support of the Combined Services Disabled Ski Team
(CSDST).
The evening was attended by 130 guests from
the Military, Industry, Athletes and Management of the CSDST, and
was supported by Graham Bell, five-times Olympian, journalist,
adventurer and lead anchor for BBC’s Ski Sunday. The evening was
immensely successful and raised a staggering £40,000 for the CSDST
charity.
CSDST was set up in 2008 to provide further
rehabilitation routes for disabled service men and women, and to
enable them to compete competitively with their able-bodied
colleagues, reaching international levels should they qualify. The
team currently has five members in Great Britain’s Paralympic
Development Squad training for the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi,
Russia.
David Claridge, Relationship Lead with the CSDST, said: “I am
immensely proud of the team which delivered such a fantastic night
on so many levels; this is such a deserving cause and everyone
involved is so proud to be able to make a difference.”
