Job Description
- This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced RF/Microwave Design Engineer to help Selex ES create Next Generation Electronic Surveillance and Electronic Counter Measures products for use in Fast Jets, UAVs, Land and Naval platforms.
- The successful candidate for this position will have an Electronic Engineering or Physics Degree or MSc and be actively working in RF design in a lead role.

Key Responsibility Areas
- You will already have experience working in RF or Microwave design; with experience and knowledge in Comms, Radar and Satellite Bands (typically 1-20GHz).
- You will have considerable experience using design tools such as AWR Microwave Office, Agilent ADS, Genesys, CST Microwave Studio, Mentor Graphics RF PCB.
- You will have led teams of Engineers & Technicians with, many different disciplines and levels (e.g. RF, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Supply Line) in order to produce RF/ Microwave designs to cost and schedule
- The successful candidate will be expected to quickly become an effective and valued part of a diverse engineering group that will in turn provide the support and the right environment for you to develop your career further
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge
Qualifications:
- Minimum Entry Requirements: 2.2 BSc or M. Eng. in either Electronics, Electronics & Communications, Physics or Applied Physics
- High level of computer skills for design modelling, analysis and presentation.
- Essential Skills
- Expert user of Microwave CAE (ADS and/or MWO)
- Component & Device level circuit modelling relevant to RF circuit design
- Sub-system partitioning, schematic design and capture, RF board design, RF micro-strip design, frequency planning.
- MS Office for data analysis, presentation and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentational skills
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- An ability to deliver high performance design solutions
- Project management skills, able to deliver to cost and schedule
- Microwave E/M simulation using tools such as Momentum / CST Microwave Studio
- Essential Knowledge
- Extensive knowledge of circuit techniques for RF circuit and MMIC design.
- Wideband circuit design (2 – 20 GHz preferably),
- HPA and LNA design
- Microwave module sub-system design
- Extensive knowledge of RF/Microwave testing techniques and test equipment including RFOW
- High level interest in design methods and semi-conductor and materials technology
Intrinsic Job Factors
This is an office-based role using display screen equipment working full time hours in a stimulating and demanding environment.
As part of this role you may be expected to travel in the UK and abroad and you may also be expected to stay overnight as part of this travel.
