Field Network System Engineer – DRS Technologies UK – Farnham
Job Description
The Field Network System Engineer will be performing network and application integration primarily in a field environment. Must have hands on experience with networking, and will require 75% travel.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and configure networks
- Perform network and application integration primarily in a field environment
- Gather requirements from customers / test team and forward to Sr. Engineering staff
- Document implementation conditions, configuration files and create network diagrams, and present to peers and superiors
- Provide feedback on network architectures and design to the development teams in order to build simulated lab environments.
- Building lab systems
- Diagnosis of network/system faults in the field.
- Travel:
- Approximately 75%
- Travel to field locations for test events. Events will last from a few days to several weeks.
- Participate in demonstration events showcasing system capabilities
Basic Qualifications
- Network Engineer with at least a Bachelor degree in a related field (EE, CS, CE), Masters degree preferred
- Awareness of military networking applications
- Awareness/application of Cisco routers.
- Must be familiar with and be able to navigate: Cisco Networking: Routing, Switching, Security, VoIP; Linux System Administration and scripting; Microsoft Office Tools, Linux utilities, and Wireshark,
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
