Finmeccanica continues to invest in
Apprenticeships
National Apprentice Week, 6-10 February 2012 – Finmeccanica
continues to invest significantly in its successful apprenticeship
scheme in the UK, despite increased business pressures and
declining defence budgets.
Finmeccanica has more than 360 trainees with 220 participating
in the Finmeccanica National Apprentice Scheme. The
apprentices participate in a 4-year training programme which
focuses on either engineering or business skills. The scheme, which
involves Finmeccanica companies such as AgustaWestland and SELEX
Galileo, has also been awarded an “Outstanding” grading by
OFSTED.
Finmeccanica welcomes the government’s plans (reinforced during
this National Apprentice Week 6-10 February 2012), to continue its
focus on investment to strengthen apprenticeships in its desire to
create an economy that is truly world-class, high-skilled and open
for everyone willing to work hard.
“We are working hard to maintain the numbers in our training
programmes as we believe strongly in developing an advanced skills
base for our industry. We operate in a very competitive global
environment and to move forward into the future we need a well
prepared work force. The defence industry in the UK has outstanding
resources and is an important contributor to the advanced
manufacturing agenda,” said Alberto De Benedictis, CEO Finmeccanica
UK.
