Finmeccanica UK
Tomorrow's Engineers Week
Tomorrow’s Engineers is led by EngineeringUK and the Royal Academy of Engineering and is focussed on inspiring the next generation of engineers.
Tomorrow’s Engineers Week takes place this year in November and aims to change perceptions of engineering among young people (focusing on 11-14s), their parents and teachers.
The week celebrates the everyday engineering heroes that design, create and innovate to improve our lives.
As an international leader in electronic and information solutions, Finmeccanica recognises that the future success of our Company is dependent on the future generations' passion for engineering and technological excellence.
Through our companies, Finmeccanica offers a variety of ways for the next generation of aspiring engineers to develop the skills and expertise that will enable them to build an exciting and rewarding career in engineering:
- Selex ES's Transnational Graduate Development Programme provides graduates with the best possible start to their career, excellent prospects and great development opportunities within the wider Finmeccanica Group.
- We offer apprenticeship opportunities and programmes which have been rated "Outstanding" by OFSTED*. Participants reap the rewards of working within a leading technology provider, whilst developing their own skill set and professional qualifications for their future careers.
- Additionally, through our subsidiary companies, we offer industrial and summer placements within our Business and Engineering functions which offer the opportunity to gain invaluable workplace experience while studying towards your degree.
The Company is also a committed supporter of UK Government-led initiatives to improve the number of young people choosing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (#STEM) as a career choice.
We are also proud to be signed up to the 5% Club; a proactive initiative where companies show their commitment to achieve the target of having 5% of their overall UK workforce on a formalised apprentice, sponsored student and/or graduate programme within five years.
Our support to the UK Government's ‘Your Life' initiative is part of a national effort to encourage greater participation amongst young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM), especially women. During 2013-2014, we saw inspiratonal female engineers from Selex ES win the ET Young Women Engineer of the Year and appointed as President of the Women's Engineering Society.
