Job Description

As a systems engineer in EW, you will have the opportunity to work within different stages of the engineering lifecycle, from requirements capture and functional modelling, through systems design and sub-systems design, to integration and test.

 

You will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT), under the direction of a team leader.

 

Key Responsibility Areas

You will be responsible for elements of the systems programme, e.g. co-ordinating functional testing and collating results or undertaking requirements capture and derivation.

 

You will be involved in the functional design under the direction of a more senior team member.
You will use technical expertise to solve problems, generate ideas and be pro-active within the team.

 

You will liaise with other departments within IPT.

 

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential Skills:  

  • A degree in Electronics, Systems Engineering or Physics.
  • The candidate must possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and the ability to interact with people from different disciplines and departments.
  • Strong analytical and technical problem solving skills.
  • Ability to produce clear concise technical design documentation.
  • Ability to provide accurate engineering output (analysis and reports) and technical information to ensure informed decision making.
  • Ability to manage own workload with minimal supervision.

 

Desirable Skills/Experience:  

  • Experience of working with Requirements engineering tools (DOORS), Mathematical analysis tools (Matlab/Simulink), system design tools (MODAF/UML).
  • Understanding of the CONOPS analysis, Requirements Management, System Design Process (including System and Sub-System Specification)
  • Experience gained within a System Engineering department in a defence environment.
