Job Description
This is a full time post working within MOD in Whitehall, as part of a Selex ES team producing technical assessments. This role is focused on the creation of MATLAB/Simulink models of key aircraft subsystems, chiefly threat airborne radars, working closely with MOD staff and managed by a Selex ES engineer with radar domain knowledge.
This is a reserved post. The MOD requires that candidates be UK nationals and undergo Developed Vetting if selected for this position. It is anticipated that it will be possible to commence work with an SC whilst a DV application is processed.
Working for a leading defence contractor, in direct support of the MoD, this position provides an opportunity to be involved in the technical modelling and assessment of avionics systems including radar and electronic warfare systems. The successful candidate must have an aptitude for the development of models in the Matlab/Simulink environment and the ability to work directly with and present findings to the customer. Prior knowledge of the principles of radars is required, and experience in this or a related area is highly desirable.

- Provision of documentation including algorithms, limitations, change history and constraining input data
- Presentation of work to relevant peer groups and at review meetings
- Continuous liaison with MOD customer representatives

- Extensive use of Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow to model complex, dynamic avionics systems.
- Working knowledge and understanding of airborne intercept radar (including subsystems, waveforms and modes) and other avionics systems (e.g. EW, RWR, ESM, IRST, IFF, A-A missiles)
- Experience of the use of Real-Time Workshop (or similar tools) for generation, optimisation and execution of dynamic models
- Knowledge of C programming language
Education
- Essential: A recognised numerate honours degree in a relevant area, e.g. computer science, engineering, physics or mathematics.
- Desirable: A 1st or 2.1 degree classification; Research degree or similar research experience outside academia.
