MoD Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award

Finmeccanica wins 2014 award for its work supporting the UK's Reservists and Armed Forces

MoD Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award

Finmeccanica has won the MoD’s 2014 Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award for its work supporting Reservists and the Armed Forces. This award recognises that the company actively supports Reservist employees and has established Reservist HR procedures.

The awards ceremony took place on 27 November at HMS President, hosted by the General Officer Commanding London District, Major General Edward Smyth-Osborne. Awards were presented on behalf of all the services, by Air Vice Marshal Ed Stringer and Commodore Andrew Jameson.

The Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award was received on behalf of Finmeccanica by Andy Poulton-Watt, Head of Strategic Electronic Warfare Campaigns, at Selex ES’s Air & Space Systems Division, and a Commander in Royal Naval Reserve. Scott Quayle, a Pricing Manager at AgustaWestland and Pilot Officer at RAF Benson, 606 Squadron, gave a short speech about why he chose to become a Reservist and how Finmeccanica has supported him in this.

Finmeccanica recognises the contribution that the members of the Armed Forces make to the nation through their service. We have a moral obligation to those who have served in the Armed Forces – whether Regular or Reserve – to those who are now serving, and to their families.

Finmeccanica and its operating companies in the UK, support the “Armed Forces Corporate Covenant”, demonstrating our pledge to the Armed Forces Community. As part of our pledge, we support: the employment of young and old veterans; our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve Forces; and our local cadet units, either in local community or local schools, where possible.

We have also engaged to participate in the Joint Graduate Training Army Scheme which aims to attract graduates to undertake a Reserve Commission whilst participating in one of our graduate programmes. Following the Army’s selection process, the training will consist of an eight-week intensive programme at Sandhurst, and after its successful completion, the employee will become a Reserve Commissioned Officer.
