Home to Rome cyclists raise £20,000
18 June 2010
– Congratulations to the Finmeccanica and Combined
Services Disabled Ski Team (CSDST) cyclists and support team of the
Home to Rome challenge, who reached their final destination in Rome
after 1,250 miles and two weeks in the saddle.
The team, comprising riders from Finmeccanica
companies in the UK and Italy, along with members of the CSDST,
cycled through the UK, France, Switzerland and Italy, and raised
£20,000 which will be used to support disabled servicemen and women
competing at the highest level in international skiing
competitions.
The CSDST helps rehabilitate members of the
armed forces who have been seriously injured while on active
service, by proving that a physical disability needn’t restrict
their lives. It also aims to nurture raw talent so that team
members can potentially qualify for and represent the British
Disabled Ski Team in national and international competitions, with
a long-term view to qualifying for the 2014 Paralympics in Sochi,
Russia.
Thank you to everyone who made a donation.
