Olympic and Paralympic Security Conference 2012

The Olympic and Paralympic Security Conference 2012 was a
major RUSI conference organised in conjunction with the Home Office's Olympic Security
Directorate.
Sponsored by Finmeccanica company, SELEX Systems Integration,
the conference offered a unique opportunity to engage with key
decision-makers and stakeholders from the UK's security
community. With an international audience of 200 senior
experts, the event provided strategic and operational
insight into all aspects of Olympic security policy and planning,
revealing how the UK is preparing itself to deliver the best
Olympic Games experience ever.
As the last major conference before the summer of 2012, this
milestone event highlighted how the UK could capitalise on a
successful Olympic Games to strengthen national security and
develop a lasting legacy for UK business and industry.
The conference was divided into four sessions:
- Successfully Managing the
Security Challenge
- Ensuring Security and
Resilience at Games Time
- Working with Other Key Partners
- The Legacy of London 2012: Opportunities for London and the
UK
Amongst the speakers was the Home Secretary,
Theresa May, and Charles Farr, Director
General, Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism, Home
Office.
Finmeccanica UK Ltd Vice President Strategic Marketing,
Air Chief Marshal Sir Brian Burridge, chaired the session about
'Ensuring Security and Resilience
at Games Time', with panellists including: Air-Vice Marshal Clive

Security Directorate, Home Office; Tony Smith, Senior Director,
