RUSI Future Maritime Operations Conference
6-7 July 2011 – RUSI, Whitehall,
London
The RUSI Future Maritime
Operations Conference was one of the first major public
opportunities to discuss the role and contribution of the Royal
Navy, following the Strategic Defence and Security
Review.
Amongst the panel of prominent
speakers over the two days were senior figures from the Ministry of
Defence (MOD), industry and allies, who examined the utility of
navies in an interconnected world, and in particular how the Royal
Navy can continue to support international operations.
As part of Finmeccanica's
sponsorship of this event, SELEX Systems Integration’s Executive
Chairman, David Gould (formerly Chief Operating Officer at MOD
DE&S), chaired RUSI's Academics' Breakfast Briefing at the
conference on 7 July. Building upon the conference theme of 'The
Utility of Navies in an Interconnected World'', the breakfast
focussed on 'Innovation and Integration to deliver Effective Navies
in an Interconnected World'.
In addition, Finmeccanica UK’s
Vice President Strategic Marketing, Sir Brian Burridge KCB CBE, was
a panellist alongside Rear Admiral Peter Hudson CBE, Chief of Staff
(Capability), Royal Navy, discussing “What Level of
Maritime Warfighting Capability Might be Required for the Future
Navy 2025?”.
