VEGA to enhance information superiority to NATO’s Allied Rapid
Reaction Corps
2 May 2012 – VEGA Consulting Services Ltd
(VEGA), a Finmeccanica company, has been awarded a contract by
NATO to provide Network Management toolsets and capabilities
to Headquarters Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (HQ ARRC).
HQ ARRC is a highly capable multinational,
operational headquarters, fully ready for rapid deployment anywhere
in the world within five to thirty days, under NATO, EU, coalition
or national auspices, with dedicated and integrated support to
sustain and protect the headquarters once deployed. As a result,
the efficiency of HQ ARRC’s networks is crucial to the success of
its operations, especially as they grow in complexity.
Under the terms of the contract, VEGA will
provide expertise in the areas of Application Assurance, Network
Performance Management and Situational Awareness. Having been tried
and tested on UK fixed infrastructure, naval platforms and in
support of operations in Afghanistan and Libya, these capabilities
will enable the ARRC to:
- Improve Information and Communications Services
availability, fault find and understand network
topologies
- Improve the speed of network deployment in support of
operations and exercise, and restore information services once
whenever a failure occurs
- Improve the use of scarce resources and better inform
investment decisions in the future
- Provide a global view of ARRC networks and information
services
These capabilities will enable the
monitoring of application traffic on the network in real-time;
enable pro-active network management and provide visibility of each
security domain integrating information about ARRC’s operational
networks.
This contract further demonstrates VEGA’s
growing role in the support of coalition operations. As part of the
Finmeccanica Cyber Solutions team, the company was also recently
appointed by the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency
(NC3A) to develop, implement and support the NATO Computer Incident
Response Capability (NCIRC). The extensive managed service will
provide information assurance to around 50 NATO sites and
headquarters throughout 28 countries worldwide.
VEGA Chairman, Sir Brian Burridge, said: “As
NATO’s military operations become evermore complex, facilitating
information superiority as a force multiplier, will be absolutely
vital. Therefore, the likes of our work for HQ ARRC and for NC3A on
the NCIRC programme will be at the forefront of supporting
coalition forces’ concurrent operations, and helping maximise
front-line effectiveness and efficiency.”
