SELEX Systems Integration and TruSim cement alliance in Training Innovation

ITEC, 19 May 2010 – Two of the most innovative companies working in the training market are to deepen their collaboration to further develop their offerings in immersive games and simulations.

SELEX Systems Integration Ltd, a Finmeccanica Company, and TruSim, a division of Blitz Games Studios, originally worked together as part of a Technology Strategy Board co-funded project, which also included academic partners and the medical education charity Advanced Life Support Group. The project was aimed at developing robust methodologies that would aid the creation of effective game-based training applications and demonstrating their impact on learning.

The recently completed project created three prototypes – Triage Trainer, Ward Off Infection and Patient Rescue – all of which have been trialled with users and have been widely welcomed as genuinely useful additions to the training portfolio. In controlled trials, Triage Trainer was proven to be more effective than a traditional training method.

Today at Europe’s premier training event, SELEX Systems Integration and TruSim signed a new agreement, which sets out a commitment to continue working together at the leading edge of training transformation. The two companies have complementary offerings – TruSim brings leading edge interactive game technologies and innovation in designing immersive engaging experiences, while SELEX Systems Integration has a long-established track record in delivering training solutions that enable private and public organisations to develop staff knowledge and skills, and where necessary, change attitudes.

Mary Matthews, TruSim’s Strategy and Business Development Director, said: “We’re delighted to be continuing our collaboration with SELEX Systems Integration and working together to bring the engagement and immersiveness of the best video games to make a difference in the way organisations develop their staff.”

Neil Stewart, Deputy Director of SELEX Systems Integration's Training Solution team, added: “We are very happy to announce the signing of this agreement at ITEC 2010. By continuing our successful working relationship with TruSim, SELEX Systems Integration is looking forward to providing organisations with training solutions that realise the learning potential of video game technology.”
