SELEX Galileo signs logistic support contracts worth more than €36m

10 May 2011 – SELEX Galileo has recently been awarded contracts worth more than €36m to carry out integrated logistic support work relating to a number of programmes and systems. These include the Company's Grifo radar, the Eurofighter Typhoon, simulators and the Mirach aerial target drone.

Of these contracts, €14.5m were awarded to SELEX Galileo to support two international air forces’s Grifo radars. Grifo is one of SELEX Galileo's most successful products, with more than 450 sold and a combined total of more than 100,000 hours in-flight.

"Past contracts have proven that SELEX Galileo support solutions improve both the lifespan and performance of our systems, and the market is responding extremely well” said Fabrizio Giulianini, CEO of SELEX Galileo adding: “These contracts show the high level of trust the market is placing in our logistic solutions, which increasingly focus on handling the entire support offer for the user. In some cases, we are even planning to start up entirely new local firms to support our most important customers."

Other contracts awarded include those to provide logistic support services for the Mirach 100/5 aerial target drone. More than 600 Mirach systems have been supplied to date, and the system is currently being operated on the test ranges of several countries including UK, Italy, France and India.

The contract with the Indian Ministry of Defence is a service agreement that provides for a number of Mirach 100/5 flight campaigns at the Chandipur test range during 2011. The contract will see SELEX Galileo retain ownership of the Mirach drones and provide a complete flight campaign to the customer, demonstrating a flexible approach to meeting customer needs.
