SELEX Communications presents advanced Soldier Systems solutions at Soldier Technology 2010

18 May 2010 SELEX Communications, a Finmeccanica company, will be exhibiting a number of its innovative solutions to meet the needs of modern defence forces at the Soldier Technology Conference in London, 18-21 May.

The Fixed Base Force Protection (FBFP) System builds on the key design features of the highly regarded Personal Role Radio (PRR) to provide enhanced Force Protection in and around Base Camps and Command Posts. FBFP achieves this by extending the PRR range by up to a potential 2.5 kilometres. Its design provides a highly flexible “tool kit” deployment solution that enables the user to build a system that fits each scenario.

CTX provides the user with communication interface capabilities. It intelligently detects the addition of new radios and intercoms to optimise the quality of communications. The three-input system enables up to two radios and an intercom system to be connected simultaneously.

The Wireless Vehicle Intercom System, Version 7 (WVIS07) connects four wired headset users to as many as four combat net radios (CNR). The unit also has an integral PRR. This allows the four wired users shared access to PRR, and PRR users to hear the commands from the four wired headsets. The full duplex intercom can be mounted on most in-service land vehicles to enable intercommunications amongst crewmembers, via CNR and PRR respectively.

The Platform PRR is designed to be fitted in a range of hard-skinned and soft-skinned military vehicles, and rotary-winged and transport aircraft. Interfacing with the platform harness, the Platform PRR provides communications between the crew and mounted, dismounted or transported troops equipped with PRR. It can be used in a variety of configurations to match the specific platform types, roles and operational scenarios.

The Infantry Soldier Situational Awareness Tool consists of a data enabled PRR, a location device such as GPS and inertial navigation sensors, a status entry device, a display and a command application. Every radio can support Situational Awareness functions, and also provides a normal section or platoon voice net. The system delivers Blue Force Tracking.

GUARDIAN provides “electronic armour” against Radio Frequency initiated Remotely Controlled Improvised Explosive Device threats. The system is combat proven, easy to use, highly reliable, lightweight and fully sealed. Preparation and operation are extremely simple, and the equipment is comprehensively programmable and highly re-configurable.

The combat-proven Soldier System Radio (SSR) Plus enhances force flexibility and security. Its dual net capability supports commanders exercising Command & Control at Platoon level on one radio net, whilst enabling Section commanders to focus attention on the Section radio net.
