Responsibilities / Duties

The Project Manager for leading and managing projects and bids to meet specific customer and financial outcomes. This role is primarily responsible for determining the outcomes for the projects and bids within their effective control.

  • Manages the relationships with multiple stakeholders both on the client and supplier sides to the benefit of the projects
  • Owns the project budget, monitoring the expenditures and costs as the project progresses 
  • Ensuring optimum utilisation in the allocation of resources and skills within the project
  • Managing and resolving any risks and other issues that may arise; applies for release of technical contingency into the authorised works cost
  • Ensure phase reviews are conducted at kick-off, hand-over and close down
  • Ensure appropriate bid activity is supported for opportunities within the domain
  • Responsible for successful handover to operations and support
  • Manages the relationship between the supply chain manager and third party suppliers ensuring their products are correctly specified and delivered to meet the overall project requirements
  • Ensure that projects and resources conform to Selex ES  reporting standards and practices including:
  • Review all projects monthly for performance against budgeted revenue, cash and margin.  This includes meeting the in-year budgeted revenue, cash and margin.  Must ensure that appropriate action is taken for poor performing projects
  • Review and approve, within the specified timescale, timesheets of staff engaged on respective projects
  • Ensure invoices are raised and received by the client on achievement of the contractual milestone
  • Ensure that actions from the various periodic review meetings are satisfactorily completed, within agreed timescales
  • Ensure adherence to the Selex ES change control process for each project or programme.Ensure that the process is implemented effectively within agreed tolerances

 

Qualifications / Experience

  • Experience in Air Traffic Management or rail domain would be a significant advantage
  • Experience of working in and delivering complex engineering projects, primarily in software-centric environments.
  • Experience of working in programmes up to £100m and directly responsible for projects up to £15m
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience of the project management tools and approaches to manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects
  • Experienced in full project lifecycles from concept to delivery
  • A strong academic background is required, ideally degree level, preferably in Engineering or Science subject or equivalent
  • PRINCE2 / APM / PMI or similar formal ‘qualifications’
  • An understanding of MSP
